As the title says...if you had 8k to spend, what would you do to the Max.

And this is 8k to spend on your car. Not investing in Apple or a new deck for the house

Edit: the title should read...what would you do to your Max...

Change all suspension and bushings. Get some rims and use the rest for gas.

Just an extra 8k lying around.

1. Full bolt-ons/Tune/Spacers
2. Coilovers
3. Paint it majestic blue.

Or

Sell my max and get an infiniti

Honestly man, you are virtually asking what every reasonable mod is.

Aside from that I would go for one of these

Only $5599 according to their website for 400 WHP and 400+ ft/lbs of torque...not bad.

Good offer lol. But I would still rather a stock infiniti then a loaded maxima. Strictly because the luxury outweighs performance at this point in my life....did I just grow up a little!?

Don't temp me.

Do you mean an Infiniti M or a BMW M?

2damax
I understand where you're coming from

Tyutyunnik
I was lucky enough to pick up some Apple at the ground floor. It's been a rocky ride tho.

I'm stupidly happy, thanks for asking. I wish the exhaust were louder, but that will happen eventually (and intentionally) far down the road.

Somewhat on-topic to your thread, I spent about $8K over the last three years on mods and repairs. Not all at once, but slowly, month over month. I have no regrets at all, and it was an engaging hobby. But here's the thing -- everything that I appreciated about the Maxima, and everything I was trying to do to improve upon it in a way that spoke to my values in a car, all of that...

...still doesn't measure up to this G.

Just saying. Sure, there are better cars, and faster cars (note the OP has a vette), but for a good mix of style, value, performance & luxury, the Sedan 6MT really has it going on. All reasons why I loved my Maxima, BTW.

It's not going to make 400whp out of the box. I would get rid of that split second box and get a Haltech to tune with and a 3" downpipe. Go to 1SwtMax's thread in the turbo section and read what he had to do to get that thing over 400whp........

To me a custom turbo setup would run MUCH better and would be around the same price.

I'd take a fully built NA VQ35 over a custom turbo any day, mainly because of additional costs down the road in terms of tuning and maintenence, not to mention, the significant torque down low is going to suck on a FWD, unless you have good gas pedal restraint . If this is for a DE-K, get a Vortech kit with complementing bolt ons and call it a day. Suspension and subframe bracing is also a must on these cars.

That would be a pretty good setup for a DEK. What would that get you? 260-280WHP?

Holy shizzle, would you really get 200 HP out of a supercharger and the rest of that stuff? You'd have to put 1000HP axles and wrinkle walls on the front to put that kind of power to the pavement!!

Engine overhaul.
If I had any money left, I'd spend it on body work.

Believe it or not, $8K is really not going to get you that far. I have done:
HID Retro
All new lenses
Skirt & lip kit, trunk debadging (and paint)
Window tinting
New wheels & tires
HU/Speakers/Amp/Sub
FSTB/RSB
Coilovers (ordered)

and I'm at around $7K - and haven't done anything to the engine!

Lip kit was cheap, but the paint was expensive. Needed it on the bumpers anyway.

Lighting quality of the HIDs is priceless... but like I said before, it adds up quick!

maybe its priceless to you, but to others...HIDs are better than Halogens so we are already winning w/ a $30-60 kit from ebay and calling it a day...that's if i want HIDs..i'm out of the HID phase truthfully

If I can't just buy a new car.

6sp swap. Rust fix. New parts incl. a drop. Wheels (maybe just repaint). And a lip, why not.

8K is plenty if you don't factor in labor costs.

YEH.....if you do everything yourself then its about HALF the expense. Just buy a part and put it in yourself. Buy cams for $1000 and install yourself.....costs only $1000. Buy cams and have a shop install costs labor costs MORE than the cams!!!

BTW...wife and I just renting a home that has a 1.5 Car garage!!! Time to get busy installing this Mishimoto radiator and big brake kits!!! No more apartment crap not being able to jack car up and having people complain!!!!! NO labor fees!!!!
