Just got a 1997 Maxima, black SE

I'm new to the forum. I just recently bought a black Maxima. It seems like a good car so far. I have a check engine light, but it passed emissions anyway ;-)

It was a California car. The hood has the clear coat starting to peal. But, it looks good after you wash it.

Welcome to Maxima.org. It looks like you also have a fogged headlight on the driver's side, so search and you will find many threads on people polishing the headlight lenses.

Thanks guys. It's automatic. And I've bought newer non-fogged headlights. I have not put them on yet.

My obd 2 connector is broken. But I have a report from a Nissan dealer back that said it had the standard Evap 446 and knock 325 codes. I will try the wd-40 trick on the Evap canister when I get a chance. The dealer report also said the car needs a BCM; I will get a used one a see if the security system will start working again.

Anyway, it's a fun car to drive and my boys fit well in the back seats with all of their baseball gear :-)

Great! I live in Everett and I work in Seattle. I used to own a 96 Maxima, so it was an easy decision to buy the car. I'm normally a Ford guy and my recent cars were a Fox Mustang and Ford Ranger.
