Advice with Tire Size??

So I picked up a set of I35 wheels, and I plan to get them on my 2000 I30 hopefully within a month (after I order one more wheel since one has a moderate bend). I am looking on Tire Rack and they recommend a 215/50/17 for their 17-inch wheel offerings on my car. Is this what I should go with (as opposed to a 215/55/17 or 225/50/17 or whatever)? Most likely will be ordering Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires since they have awesome reviews for $120 a tire in 215/50/17 form. Any opinions with the tire size, or even the tire to get? Any help is appreciated

Well I have an '01, and I have the '04 G35 Sedan 17's on my car. I actually have the 225/50, Yokohama YK520's. I like the bigger size for the look, and the fact that when my wife drives and parks ridiculously close to the curb, I don't have to worry about curb rash, here's a pic of them...

They run perfectly? like no rubbing and the speedo is still good?

Check out http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and plug in the original size and the new size that you want. As long as the speedo reading is not more than 3% you are good. Usually you can put a 235/45 size on there and the speedo would be good also.

Thanks for the link mayor914! Looked at a few sizes, and I think I'll probably go with the 215/50/17. They have the least difference, and those Continentals I want are that price only for that size, if Tire Rack has them in other sizes. I'm the only one who drives the car (besides my mom moving it every morning) so the rubbing isn't an issue (I drop the mirror and parallel my car when I have to park along a curb), and I don't need the grip from an extra 10mm

yeah no problem. im gonna use that if and when i get some 18's. I wanna run thicker tires for my wheels that i get just because i get a longer tread life. The 235/45 General Exclaim Tires were really good in the rain. High Performance Summer tires is what I would buy again

I actually just ordered my tires on Saturday from Tire Rack. Continental ExtremeContact DWS in 215/50/17. Also had to order two remanufactured I35 wheels since two in the set I got (for free, at least) had bends. Everything should be coming by the middle of this week

I got all four tires mounted yesterday and now they are sitting in my garage. Will post pics as soon as I am able to get the new set on the car

As promised, here are some pics I took since I got the wheels out on my car this morning. Sorry for the quality, since these were all taken on my iPhone 4
