Do I need to order both guides for a water pump change?

My mechanic said that my timing chain tension-er piston/bolt is seized and can't be reused! I know that the a new tensioner is the updated style, I read somewhere that you also have to replace the guides.

So you my question is do I need both guides or just one? Also any parts numbers would help. Do I need the top for bottom one?

Tnx

When you're in there you should replace what you can.

First, you should find out how much he is charging you for the job. Second, the water pump replacement only involves removing the main tensioner from the black access dor on the timing chain cover. For you to replace the guides, the entire cover has to come off which involves more labor hours which means higher cost.
