Make the maxima runs smoother & brake problems
Make the maxima runs smoother & brake problems
Question....
What can you do to keep a maxima runs smooth?
is changing the fuel filter will help? how hard is it to do that?
is adding fuel injection cleaner will help? what's the best fuel injection cleaner?
what about changing the spark plugs?
I have 125K on my 95 Maxima, it still run considerably smooth for that higher mileage.... i'm just wondering if i can make it even smoother.......
Second question,
Every morning, i have this brake problem.
There's a sound (like dull/low pitch scrubbing) from the front brake...(even when i'm not pushing the brake) and it's gone after a while....
If i cruise about 50Mph, when i hit the brake.... i can feel the steering wheel shaking/vibrating......
I just change my rear disc rotor and pads like 2-3 months ago... and it squeaks.... very annoying....
The mechanic that changed the brake said that the brake will squeak for a while.... (3 months???????)
Any suggestion?? spray material? what brand? and where to get?

The fuel filter will make the car run smoother if its really clogged up. If its not you wont notice a real difference.
The noise from the brake in the morning is normal. The 4th gen max has a problem with the calipers getting stuck which casues this sound. After driving for a few minutes this disappers.
When braking and you feel vibrations then you need to resurface your rotors. When changing pads it is best to use Nissan pads. Other pads will make noises. I have changed my pads several times and they never squeak.
Re: Make the maxima runs smoother & brake problems
Follow recommended Nissan maintainance to keep your car running smoothly, look in your owners manual. The fuel filter is not difficult to change unless you have ABS. Be sure to release the pressure in the lines before trying to replace the fuel filter. If your car is running smooth now you don't need fuel injector cleaner. Change spark plugs every 60K, this is in your manual. OEM NGK seem to work best. The parking brake rear caliper sticks, this is common on our Maximas. I think the TSB say to replace the lines and bleed system, if not bear with it. Shaking or braker judder is a symptom of front warped rotors, have them resurfaced or replaced, also common in Maximas. I have Raybestos Quiet Stop Ceramic front pads, no squeek and less dusting than OEM. Although OEM are good too. The 3 month brake in period for pads is BS, take it back and tell them to apply antisqueel compound to the back of the pads, between the shims and pads. Break in should be about 1 week, don't make any hard stops during that period. Good luck.
