Thoughts on different size tires front (smaller) vs rear (larger)

I currently have 2005 SL 17" wheels on my 96 SE. I'm running 245/45R17 General G-Max tires which I am happy with. I had some bad suspension parts up front that wore the tires pretty unevenly so I need to buy 2 tires.

I'm currently at stock height (yeah, I know), but have D2 Coilovers to put on when I replace all the worn suspension bits.

The front wheels with the 245/45R17 tires look like they will hit the fenders if I try to tuck (I was thinking about roughly a 3" drop). Would it be OK to run 225/45R17 up front and keep the 245/45R17 in the back? I was also considering about a 10mm spacer out back - seems like plenty of fender room back there.

Thoughts?

2 of my 245's are still in good shape. When it's time to replace them, I'll do all the same.
