Getting a 0701 multiple misfire code...any suggestions?
First off I want to say, I did google this and came across multiple threads regarding the 0701 code due to multiple misfires. But it seems as though the diagnosis could depend on how the code came up. So there's no way to really tell for sure what's causing the misfire, but it's possible that certain things may give clues.
So here goes:
I took my friend for a drive in my Max, and wanted to impress him so I drove it hard. Honestly it was the hardest I'd ever driven it, not that I revved it to 7K rpm or anything, I may have hit 5K rpms at most. Point is, afterwards, I started to hear this tapping sound in my engine bay. Not incredibly loud, but just a slight clicking. It was coming from the top upper and portion of the engine bay. Then the I look inside and noticed the CEL was on. Eff my life. I had a feeling it was a misfire, so I went home and checked the ECU codes, and lo-and-behold it was a multiple cylinder misfire.
So my question is, what is the first thing I should check?
Thank you so much in advance for any help.

mulitple misfire code can be a bunch of things.
First, check camsensor per FSM.
Check air hoses
Clean TB and MAF per how tos.
Check and/or replace air filter and PCV valve.
That dont worry replace spark plugs
Throw some chevron techron in the fuel tank.

No other codes either. Maybe I'll just try resetting the light and seeing if it comes back?
for me that's the best way. one time I had a code for an O2 sensor, I cleared it to double check to see if it was actually faulting, 25k miles later, I still haven't seen it lol
That is what I would suggest doing. Hopefully it does not come back.
