brake pads larger than rotors??

changing the pads and rotors all the way around on my car. when i took the front pads off, the top of the pad had a lip where the pad wasn't contacting the rotor. go and put the new stuff on and notice that the front pads are actually a little bit bigger than the rotors, like 1/20th of an inch of the pad is above the top of the rotor just like the old ones. did i get the wrong parts or is this something else?

Did you order pads for your year, make and model car...do the new ones look like the old ones...do they fit...are they on the car??? If yes, you're fine.

The top of the pad is angled and is normal. Not sure why you are concerned if they are "above the top of the rotor LIKE THE OLD ONES". Not sure what you mean by they are "bigger" than the rotors

Heres a pic, notice the bottom pic which shows the angle at the top and bottom of the pad. These are measurements for the 4th gen.

Did you put your wheel back on? If not, see if your rotor moved and sitting properly. Put the wheel one and tighten and see if it still overlaps.
