I was debating the same thing and decided to go with the 2012 lights for the simple reason that I didn't want to be hassled by the police. This way they are 100% legit and look good too.

im in the same boat. i tinted mine but they faded back to stock...lol...VHT nightshades ftw i guess

im leaning towards the 2012 tails because like you guys said they're stock and darker anyway. they look better on the lighter colors though imo

I guess I'm the minority because I like the pre 2012 tails better.

Depends on the color of the car. Silver I like the red tails. White is the best for 2012 tails. That's why I got them. :-)

Just a suggestion. I have applied Lamin-X film on a few of my vehicles with great results. Miht be a cheaper route for you. And you can choose the % tint you want to go with. I ussually go with just the tint because as you mentioned don't want to get hassled by the cops.

The other option is try E-Bay to buy the 2012 ones.

I find it funny that the people who already have the 2012 tail's post that they have them but none are saying what it cost them to get them ? Either way it may be a little tough to find one "used" and buying them brand new is going to $$$$ unless you go aftermarket (that is if they make them)

I also like the 12's but I'll probably just hold off a bit....the prices should continue to drop, maybe see if the 2013's change. Which I doubt.

2012 tails fit perfectly in 2009 model?

I have an 09 and recently got rear ended and need to have the taillights replaced. I asked the body shop use the 12 tails and they said they would if they fit. He left a message saying they don't fit. I just want to confirm that they do line up perfectly with those that have done the swap.

Nothing new here, just playing around with some $10.00 film tints.
They surprised me in that they look pretty darn good, even up close.
