What brake fluid in 7th gen?
What brake fluid in 7th gen?
Having that same issue with the vdc and brake light that was solved when Nissan topped off the brake fluid to the fill line. Don't feel like goin for a whole service so I'd like to buy some but what brand or type of brake fluid is required?
Brake fluid is pretty generic. Any brand will do, really. It not like CVT fluid which is special. just don't plan on keeping that partial bottle of brake fluid; always use a fresh bottle to prevent moisture contamination.
I would just run by a local auto parts store instead of ordering from amazon on brake fluid. Like stated above it is pretty much all the same unless you get some of the higher quality racing stuff that you don't need.
Probably because it's less time and effort to buy a bottle of brake fluid and top it off yourself, vs. bring it to the dealer. I know I'd rather spend $5 and 2 minutes under the hood than a trip to the dealer and 2 hours of time.
I bought a bottle of DOT3 brake fluid at my local Chevron station for $2.79.
As others mentioned, once unsealed, brake fluid does not keep very well, even in a closed container. I would suggest using a new bottle each time. I have only added brake fluid once in my '09, which was built in Sept 2008.
There are two brake fluid sensors. As the level of the brake fluid gradually lowers over time, the VDC OFF light begins to come on spuriously, then, within a few weeks, the brake warning light begins to come on spuriously. The brake warning light sensor is located near the front of the reservoir, and a sudden acceleration pushes the fluid to the rear of the reservoir. If the fluid level is a tad low, this acceleration leaves the sensor located at the front of the reservoir above the level of the fluid, triggering the light.

Yes. Unless there is a leak somewhere, the wearing of the pads requiring that the brake fluid push the pistons further should be the ONLY reason the brake fluid level drops.
This is not the case, cause this first happened at around 8k miles and i doubt driving as slow as I do the pads are worn. the fluid level as above minimum, but no where near max, so i added enough and everything is back to normal. Maybe the brake pads are a secondary thing, but in this case, it was the fluid twice and I only have 21k on the car.

Your brake fluid did not evaporate, and your pads did not wear that much in 8K. That fluid had to go somewhere, and I can't think of anywhere it could have gone other than a tiny leak.
