I read somewhere that you should only clean your iacv twice or 3 times (then go and buy another).

I never understood why?

I have 270,000kms on my car, cleaned the IACV only once and thinking of doing it again when I go and clean that EGR tube. I don't have any codes.

Have any of you cleaned it more than 3 times? I guess a malfuntioning IACV would result in bad or high idling?

Thanks

Cleaned mine twice, But it was a vacuum leak causing my high idle. Probabaly didnt need to be cleaned the second time.

Its right by the egr inlet on the UIM so the carbon buildup from the exhaust gunks up the IACV. It shouldn't need cleaning more than every 50,000 miles or so and if theres still a high/low idle after that its most likely somthing else, But it could always still be a bad IACZV.
