6.5", if their Bose leave them alone and get a decent headunit with Pre-outs that have above 2.4V preouts, than cross over them properly. My bose speakers may be 15 years old but they sure do sound great to me; with a few sensible modifications that is.

what mods are you talking about? My 98 still has stock everything in it and I have been needing to upgrade it and get that 8track out. The speakers still sound amazingly flavory but how can I make them better and etc?

Piggybacking on an old thread...I'm looking at these for my front blown Bose. Really want them. Will they fit?
It's 6 1/2 x 6 3/4

Bose runs a non amplified headunit and amplified speakers which are 1ohm I think. Go read about that and figure out what speakers you need.

I'm really only concerned with it fitting in place without cutting/ect.--unless it easy. I have an aftermarket headunit already with the limiter. I'll probably rewire the amp attached to the stock speaker to work with the replacement.

Search sucks and I hate the vagueness of it all. The audio section doesn't have a 4th gen section. I'll keep looking. Thanks.

You can't only be concerned with fitment. Output impedance from the head unit or amp (depends on your setup) must match the impedance of the speaker your pairing with. Not to mention wattage, both RMS and peak are things to take into consideration.

...In other words, you have some homework to do
