5th gen engine mounts fits 4th gen
For those who donīt know or were not 100% sure: A 5th gen front motor mount fits perfectly on a 4th gen...Here's the story, my 4th gen front mount was toast, so on one of my trips to the junkyard (Iīm rebuilding my center dash as some idiot stole most of it, stereo, climate control, storage bins) I found out a 5th gen motor mount (It was automatic, as I noticed the electrical connector on it) in great shape...At that time I didnīt know that it woud fit, but there were some damaged 4th gen mounts, so I check the size on both and thought that it would fit...The worst that could happen is to return the part and get something else.
So I went to a shop and installed it (18 USD, which in mexican pesos is $ 200 aprox)...Half hour later, it was installed. I asked the mech to cut the electrical connector to avoid rattles. Took it for a test drive and I can say that my ride quality increased about 15%, my shifts on spirited driving are 50% smoother, and the vibration at idle are considerably less (30%)...Just butt-ometer calculations so you can get the picture.
Fitment of the 5th gen motor mount was perfect. It was so, that the mech didnīt noticed that the mount was from a different model.
So there you have it...A big discover for me and hopefully I can help a noobie maximorger somewhere hehehe
!
BTW, the mount was $25 USD, $300 pesos aprox.

Electric mounts are on automatic transmission equipped models.
They cut down on vibrations at idle. They stiffen up when the ECU says so.
Sticking one on a manual transmission may not harm anything but it sure does not help control the rocking when accelerating from a stop or from hard shifting.

So you have a choice of 4th, 5th or 5.5 gens to take mounts from.
They are the same (I've just read about it from people that has done 3.5 swap which comes from the 5.5 & 6th gen) and for the record, this 5th gen mount ,even when it was from an AUTO, has less "holes" than my old 4th gen mount, which translates in more firmness.

Thanks
That's what I can assure you, since the front mount is the one I did...But it makes perfect sense that the rear would also fit. Again, from the ones that did the 3.5 swap to a 4th gen, they didn't mention any modification to their mounts. Maybe a fellow maximorger "3.5 swapper" can chime in and confirm/deny this.
I am pretty sure the mounts would fit but was hesitant on the 5.5. Those mounts are liquid filled and cost a good penny from dealership. Will stick to 4th gen OEMs...besides, the VQ30 does rock much at all so the mounts usually last a long time.
