...as long as you know that the only thing that muffler (or any muffler) will get you is noise...not power...

Wow, hope that doesn't get out to the public. You could put HKS, Apexi, Dinan, Borla and a slew of others with false claims and dyno charts out of business!

When was the last time you saw an independent dyno plot of a Maxima that showed more than a 1 or 2hp increase from just a muffler change?

True, with a Maxima and on the average, it is how you stated it as 1hp or 2hp gains. But in coordination with other components, the exhausts actually compliments their power and could put out up to 5hp. So, exhausts don't just put out noise, but give your car that little edge over a stock set-up.

To get off subjct a little, on turbo applications, some exhausts have been known to free up 10-15hp! Just with an exhaust.

I'm not saying there is nothing to be gained from a revised exhaust system. Just a new muffler is a waste, if you ask me...

Shop vac hose coming off the main intake duct, comes out of the plastic splashguard next to the tow hook...K&N filter.

Others have dynoed it and seen gains similar to your average cone filter & MAF adapter.

So around 5hp on average.

With no low end losses or increased noise. I have noticed quicker dirt buildup on my K&N, but I clean it regularly anyway, so that's no biggie to me.

Had a Greddy cat-back with a y-pipe setup. Probably added more HP cause on the '98, after the cat, there is a kink in the exhaust pipe that restricts flow, the Greddy eliminates that. Had the exhaust on for exactly 24 hours and took it off. Way too loud for my old ears. Attracts too much attention (Po-Po). So now the Greddy sits in my garage floor until TMS Jr. gets the car and he could put it on.

I had Midas replace that "S" pipe with a straight pipe and put in the O2 sensor to raise up the resonator so that it wouldn't scrape the floor.

too bad world sport doesnt fit 98. is the WS muffler seperate and adaptable to the stock piping?
