Pulling The 3oh Out Its Home..(Any Surprises?)

Just wondering if theirs anything I should know before removing Entire Engine/Tranny Assembly? Like any special tools or disconnects i may need to be warned about or is it a pretty easy motor as it looks to take out?

I'm Pulling it to get rid of the WEAK JUNK Auto Transmission and do a 5 speed conversion,i know theirs no need to remove motor to do it but theirs a good chance i may rebuild it or grab a 3.5 depending on how income tax is lookin..not only that but i need a new rack and pinion so need to drop entire sub frame also and will make everything much easier with everything out. i have quite a few leaks i think are all from rack n pinion but may need need hoses and everything and will be much easier with motor out to see them, plus i can completely degrease engine bay and fresh paint everything.265k miles on clock motor still strong with no noises but think its time for a new one just to be on safe side.

any tips or tricks from you experienced guys?

powersteering rack and opinion leaking, but your deciding on doing an total engine and tranny overhaul. I would keep the motor if there are no major issues with the motor. So 265k on the motor it still will go on. I would do the 3.5l if the motor craps out ect. I would go for a rebuilt it's your money,I would keep the 3.5l waiting, if you have not already purchased one in the garage untill this spring. If the money is not a problem you could do anything you like, the car will need a little bit of a modification to do the 3.5l swap motor mounts TCM,ECM,BCM. tuning and adjustments to run right.

Yeah, may just grab a lower milege 3.0 for 500 bucks..this motor has seen its red line on a regular basis past 2 years, yes it runs and sounds PERFECT but i honestly dont know how much more it can take lol its a HIGH MILEGE High Abused motor.bearings HAVE to be extra thin by now. i wanna be able to fire it up and drive out of state at any given time with no doubts on if ill make it.

yeah, the trannies are weak. that's it. Every other transmission can take neutral drops at high revs like a champ, it's just 4th gen autos that suck. riiight. It's not the driver at all, now is it?

I can not wait to see how a 5spd holds up. Auto tranny is a beast but you can't drive it like a manual. I've debated 5spd over 6spd and even though it's more money and work, 6spd is winning... It's all in the details.

manuals are fun (mine's a 5 spd), but IIRC, the fastest maximas are mostly autos.

for the sake of accuracy, the fastest maxima is an auto (quickest actually, not fastest). the next 5 quickest are all manuals.

if you know what you are doing, the auto can hold every bit of power anyone will throw at it and can hold that power for less money than it would take to make a manual hold the same power. OP obviously doesn't know what he is doing however, that much is evident from all the posts he makes.

Why bother with a newer engine Travis?

You treat your car like you hate it.

You treat transmissions like you want to destroy them.

I am amazed your engine has not thrown a rod yet.

I doubt your car can live another year.

Why waste the money on an other engine?

For that matter, leave the good engine for someone
who treats his car with respect.

Since you like to abuse cars and drive fast, why not get a Ford Mustang?
