New mods + full detailing = 2012 Photoshoot!

Well it has been a long and productive year for my car. It has kicked ass at auto-x events all year, held its own at Summit Point and gone on road trips all without too much fuss. Since I spent so much time modding and racing the car this year, I didn't have time to really detail it and take some nice pics with the new mods. Well I had a few free days around Thanksgiving and was able to do a full detailing on the car and took some pics.

If you have taken a look at my fairly epic build thread, you will already have seen a lot of these mods on my car, but I know there's one thing nobody has seen yet, and it's my custom alcantara door panels and matching boots. It took a long time, and the whole thing deserves a thread of its own, but they're finally on and done, and I'm loving them.

The detailing process went something like this:

Power wash the car
Clean wheels/tires
Wash
Clay bar
Wash
Polish (Menzerna Final Finish with Flex 3401 buffer on an orange/medium pad)
2 coats of Klasse SG

Time for pics!

Here are the alcantara covered door panels that I made. I got them to follow the curves of the stock leather, but for obvious reasons, was not able to sew them around the edge to match the OEM design. Oh well, I still think they turned out remarkably well!

Here you can get a pretty good idea about how much bolstering the Recaro has over the stock seat. It's so wide that it grazes the door when I'm in it!

It may be old, but things like water temp, air intake temp, and rpms can be handy to have in digital form. Speed is the most important of all, because the Sparco wheel is 350 mm vs stock at 390, so it blocks out the top half of the speedo and tach!

This is why I love black and silver cars so much.....everything compliments each other colorwise. Body, chrome accents, window tint, right down to and including the tires and rims.

When I was shopping for my car I seriously wanted black, and couldn't find ANY silver. My choice was limited because I wanted a fully loaded 5-speed. silver's a very rare color for this car.

I can't drive without it, it's so good. Everyone should have a CG Lock!

Thanks for the compliments guys The plan was to also take pictures with the RPF1s/Hoosiers but I ran out of daylight. Maybe I can go take some this Sunday...

Looking really good man....did you ever find out the inlet diameter of the G35 muffler? Is it 2" ID like the 3.5 Max or 2.25"? I've been running Max mufflers on my beater project '93 Altima for nearly 10 years probably and they always end up rattling (the consequence of getting them from wrecked/impacted salvage cars).

May try a G35 or Sentra Spec muffler next...

Keep up the great custom work!

IIRC the G35 muffler is 2.5" inner diameter. It fits perfect with the WSP 2.5" b-pipe. Thanks for the compliments!

I know, but I really need two NEW bumpers, since mine have so many dings and scrapes in them, and Infiniti bumpers aren't exactly cheap. Not to mention I finally got the (removed) three vertical bars in my lower grille opening cleaned up and painted, and I wouldn't want to go through that again with a new bumper
