#piece of **** nissan

Getting rid of the max! Already put a tranny in it now doing the same thing. Going to trade it in for a 08 acura RL. I used to love my max but now it's costing me to much money. The funny thing ir everbody I know with the 6th Gen has tranny issues.

Sucks, Good Luck on ur new search...

The RL's are awesome cars but that 5spd tranny isn't bullet proof either, same maintenance requirements are needed for it to last long, fluid change regularly and solenoids changed every so often.

Yea I looked up the RL to. Haven't really heard that they have tranny problems like nissan. They droped the ball with the 6th Gen's.

Nissans are great cars, but maybe you're like me and just have ****ty luck with them.

I've had mine for a month. Already had to replace ECM, IAC Valve, and now the tranny is slipping.

I thought you'll go with the solenoids instead of another tranny..I had same problem bro n used to fkn hate it n love my car at the same time..1 year later after research,I bought the solenoids instead of a whole valve body or another tranny.Did it myself n didn't take me longer than 2 hrs.Now all that hate I had turned into love..n just like the other member said...gotta love this car dude..but anyways I hope your decision is for the better..good luck

Bro, getting rid of a car with such good mileage that you have probably already paid off.. I dunno man, not a move I would make at least. Yeah, the 6th gens do have transmission problems but Like jandk said, the fact that you say you take good care of the car, yet you're having the problem again, indicates that your transmission shop may not have done the greatest job. When you had it fixed, what did they do, rebuild, drop in a junkyard tranny, or replace the valve body? Many of us, myself included, have been running problem free for tens of thousands of miles after a rebuild/valve body replacement, etc.

None of this probably matters anymore as You seem to have already made up your mind. I've been there too. I gotta admit when I was battling the transmission problem I was car shopping all over again at the same time. I'm glad I stuck with it though, nothing beats a paid off car.

If you do get it, good luck with the Ak'. It should treat you well.

If you buy that RL do not crash it, and be prepared to buy directly from the stealership because there's almost not aftermarket parts available for that car. My boy crashed his and had to write it off because it was just too expensive to fix. Good luck

I agree here. Dude, there are ways to make sure the transmission doesn't die on you again. You could send that VB to level 10 or another similar trans shop and beef that bad boy up enough to slap a turbo on it. In hall honesty the TL type S is a far better car than the maxima (sorry but it is) but how much money do you think you are going to spend for something you could fix for pennies on the dollar vs a new car.
