With spring right around the corner and our carpet mats soon to go back in, I thought I'd share how I added a heel pad to my factory carpet mats.

I got my 2012 SV Premium in July and by fall, had already noticed a pretty good indentation from my heel below the gas pedal. I also noticed the same thing on the other side of the mat below the left foot rest.

I ordered a pair (one as a back-up) of vinyl heel pads from Heel Pad Warehouse
http://www.heelpadwarehouse.com/. I bought the 17.5 x 9.25 black. This allowed me to have a heel pad that ran the width of the mat and provides protection for both heels. I purposely let the left side hang over the front edge so that it lays right up against the vinyl of the foot rest and keeps crud from falling down in the space where the mat meets the foot rest.

The people at Heel Pad Warehouse recommend buying spray adhesive to attach the pad to the mat. That seemed too messy to me. I chose to use some normal tack carpet tape. That has worked fine so far. I put the tape on the back of the heel pad and then placed it on the mat. If you chose to overhang the pad as I did, don't put any carpet tape on the part that extends beyond the mat.

I'd attach a photo but I'm ashamed to say that I'm not sure how to do that. If somebody wants to tell me how, I'll add one after.

I tried ordering from this site today but it declined my card 5 times each saying that the site encountered an error. I called the number and it went to a voicemail box. Did you have these issues @BlackMax? I'm going to try again tomorrow during business hours. I really need to get these and it's the only site I found that you recommended.

 

That's odd. When I was looking for these, they did seem to appear on several websites. The one I used seemed to be the most legit looking. Try searching for heel pads and see if they show up on another site. Hopefully the site was just under maint.

Do they look like your heel pads or are made out of the same material? I actually liked the ones on the link you posted but am still having issue with making a payment.

 

These do look the same. Especially since they have the same odd sizes.
