I just got a 2010 Maxima two weeks ago and last night it was pouring. When I was driving, I noticed that when I coasted, that the car would make a knocking sound. It only happens when I'm not on the throttle. You can't hear it when the car is idling in Park or if I'm at a stoplight. Only when driving and taking my foot off the gas pedal.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Maybe the plastic shroud is loose ?

 

If it only happens for a few seconds when coasting at speeds around 15 to 20 MPH, you may be hearing the ABS automatic adjustment that has perplexed many posters here since the 7th gen first came out.

 

I took it in for service. It turns out they reseated the brake pads and lubricated the calipers. The lubrication is what seemed to fix the vibration. Just in case anyone ever runs into it.
