I did a search here and have looked through my repair manual and can not find anything about how to remove the ****. I can twist and slide the chrome ring down, but can not see anything to release the ****. This is on an 03 I35, but looks the same as a 5.5 Maxima.
Advise is appreciated.

 

On my 5.5 max it just twists off. If you can't unscrew it by hand then just wrap the **** with a towel and turn it with some adjustable pliers or channel locks or something like that.

 

02, is yours an automatic?

 

Yes it is.

 

The automatic **** in the 3.5 models (Max & I) is a manual ****. It unscrews and can only be replaced with a manual ****. Momo has some nice models, but expensive.

Just whatever you choose, please don't replace it with one stamped with 1-5R or 1-6R!! LOL!!

 

Thanks, I will try that tomorrow. Mine is the plastic **** with the vinyl wood grain with it coming off. This is about the only flaw in my interior.
