Help! weird transmission problem!

I own a 2001 nissan maxima 20th anniversary
edition. I have a weird transmission problem.
When ever i drive on stop and go traffic and its
kinda warm out side, After 30 minutes of driving
the transmission wont get out of 1st gear!!! the
car wont go pass 20mph!!! why!! i dont get any
warning lights or anything!!! I have taken it to
several transmission shop and none can figure
out whats wrong!
First i thought it was plug cats but i had them
check and they were fine.
the transmission oil is nice and clean.
What can it be!!!?? it only happens when the
transmission oil gets hot!
is it going into safe mode?

I finally got tired of it. And I went and had the transmission replace!

And guess what..... The same thing still happens what the ****!!!

They can't figure out what's wrong!

They said that it might be that I got aftermarket
motor mounts. And they don't they don't have sensors like
the oem motor mounts.

I just ordered the nissan OEM motor mounts.
And I will install them. But I don't think that's the
problem.

What's the heck is going on? Any help?

Did you get new shift solenoids with the transmission? Had a similar issue with a 92 Integra, wouldn't shift out of 2nd. Took it to a shop to have the transmission changed with a junker. Same issue. They pulled the solenoids from my transmission and put them in the junker, since it was sold without them.

Turns out the ONLY issue I had was a bad shift solenoid.

Did it do it after the driving for a while?

That's what my maxima dose. When the transmission gets hot it dose that thing. :/

Opposite actually, it started sticking until warmed up... Then after a while like that it just stayed stuck in 2nd. But, that was on an Acura/Honda... similar issue.

Wouldn't hurt to check, especially since you just replaced the transmission. Could also be another sensor as Maxima_Style suggested. I'm not an expert by any means, just sharing what I went through on a similar situation.

Motor mounts?!? Come on man...

Maybe the TCM (Transmission Control Module) that tells the transmission to shift is bad.

Who said motor mounts? And would it be TCM if he has the issue ONLY at operating temp? Wouldn't a bad TCM cause that all the time?

Also, any CEL? If so codes will tell you either way what the issue is.

The op said motor mounts. Really. Read the end of his original post.

The TCM has integrated circuits and those things can malfunction at a certain temperature and work fine other times.

The op could run the self diagnostics and see what that shows.

If it's the TCM, why don't I get any codes?

I notice the transmission solenoid has a temperature sensor? Hmmm

Could have one or more pending. Get a reader or limp it to auto zone. Have an android phone? Get a bluetooth elm327 and diagnose

Unfortunately not everything throws a code and maybe the failure is preventing it from throwing a code. Without a code, I think everyone will agree that it is more difficult to diagnose.

See what you get when you run the transmission self diagnostics.
