Cold air intake

Okay I am brand to this and just bought a 2002 gle maxima,

Need help: I installed a Injen cold air intake ( carb legal ) MAS installed.
I did a resonator delete and added a turbo muffler leaving the factory 2/1/2 exhaust. I am now having a slight knock or ping, and some hesitation when at full throttle. a few notes:
During the installation of the CAI, I had the neg batt disc as per instruction's
and re: connected it after the install... the care drove great! I returned back home and disconnected the neg batt again for -15 minutes / re: connected. after that the car has been running bad: with the knock and hesitation.??

Need some input and advise please.....

Mods: removed resonator with turbo muffler / Injen CIA Re: installed MAS

First try the relearn procedures: https://maxima.org/showthread.php?t=592891

Second, do some research. Get rid of the Injen. It is not a CAI, it sucks WARM air from behind the radiator. You can look into (or search for) a "true" CAI and convert your Injen, but I say toss it.

Third, do more research. Getting rid of the resonator and factory muffler doesn't make power. Hell, neither does the Injen. You added noise at the cost of performance. If you want your car to sound cool and be slower, your on the right track.

This forum has a countless amount of information. Read the stickies and use that search bar.

I've read that using oiled filters like k&n is bad because some oil reaches the MAF
and fouls it up.

This could be an over oiling problem or non at all, I have no idea, but something to look into.
Until I see proof, which is easy to do, the stock airbox isn't a restriction normally.

Pinging isn't going to show up because you did that stuff either.

i'v seen some tests that showed cold air intakes loosing power.

I'm no sure it' constitutes a true scientific source but, it's something i can believe, I think OEMs are smarter than to make a restrictive air intake, or at least one so restrictive that a pod filer or cold air intake makes notable difference. i've found power in other mods, generally speaking that is, when it comes to internal combustion engines.
