Anyone who has an AE 5spd shift ****

Do you find it scratches and chips easily? I had mine replaced once already. I don't even wear a ring on my right hand?

Almost 1 year and no scratches. I expected that the first thing to go would be the white print of the gear map...that's still there too though.

It is actually a fine plastic type film on the whole thing. The 5spd gear map is just graphics on that film. The first one I had started chipping so I peeled away at it and go the whole film off. It actually looks a lot better and more polished with it off than on (just no gearing map)! Then I replaced it under warranty (they knew about it already).

It's a small world...I was complaining about it this morning at the dealer, I just got mine replaced today. It had discoloured and felt scratchy like you said.

My sticker with the gear map came off also...now it's not "brushed aluminum," it's just aluminum. Like Michael said, it looks better, but my aluminum is starting to peel also...gonna get it replaced next trip to dealer.
