One caution - if anyone has a 2000 Maxima, DO NOT get it from nicoclub (the above link).

Get it from here - http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Maxima/

Why? Is the nicoclub one for the early 2000?

Good find. It's not for every Nissan manufactured though, plenty of models are missing.

The 2000 year model has 2 versions. There are enough differences for Nissan to justify 2 versions of the FSM. I call them early production and late production. Nissan doesn't use that term.

One of the manuals on Nicoclub is not even for the North American Maxima. It is for the European Maxima QX. Today, Nicoclub currently has it as the 2000 FSM. They have also listed it as the 2000.5 FSM. Since they keep swapping it back and forth, it may get switched again. They ought to delete it. Following an incorrect manual is worse that having no manual.

Unfortunately Nissan did not go by production date, they issued a breakdown of the VIN serial numbers so you can get the proper FSM. The 2000 Maxima was made in 4 different assembly plants, so there are 4 groups of serial numbers.

If you have already downloaded a FSM, verify that you have the correct FSM for your car. Look at the front page of the FWD section. In the top left corner is a publication number. Then look at the last 8 digits of the VIN.

2000 early manual
for VINs up to and including YT0 12236, YT2 11680, YT5 27429, or YT7 40491
on the front page of the FWD section, it reads
Edition: April 1999
Revision: June 2000
Publication No. SM0E-1A33U3

2000 late manual (2000.5)
for VINs higher that the above numbers
on the front page of the FWD section, it reads
Edition: November 1999
Revision: January 2001
Publication No. SM0E-1A33U5
