The brake light, I think indicates that you're low on brake fluid. I don't understand the 2nd part of your question, sorry.

Might be low on brake fluid, might have a short in the e-brake wiring harness, might have a loose ebrake pedal. Are you sure it isn't the traction control light?
Why not take it to the dealer since it is likely under warranty?

To my knowledge, there is no safety device in place that should cut engine power at 100 mph or over, but unless you are on a track, that's just plain dangerous speeds friend.
I'm a lawyer and in my state, that's a class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to 364 days in jail and up to a $2500 fine.

Can you explain what "converting a DE to an HR" means?

You might be low on Brake fluid, but I'd check for any leaks since 18,000 miles is too soon to be topping off brake fluid. And if you search, you'll find that these cars pretty much stop accelerating after 100-120. Some say its the governor, some say torque converter.

Like others said, buy brake fluid and top it off. You might be low. About your DE to HR conversion question, nobody converted from the DE to HR motor. From what I know about Nissan motors, DE has 1 intake while the HR has 2. So I'm assuming since the engine is larger, it can't fit in the engine bay. But if you have money like that, then it can be done haha. But I'd rather buy a 370z and go from there instead of having the trouble to swap and get headaches in between.

If you are staying at high speed for some time the transmission temperature detection will limit your speed to protect the transmission from overheating and failing.

PS If you are into racing cars you picked the wrong car for your type of driving

Why would they stop them from accelerating after 100?

It's not that the engine has a governor that limits speed rather a sensor that prevents the tranny from over heating. You must be creating lots of stress getting to 100 mph for your engine to sense this. Your tranny is the heart of your engine you need to manage it in order to maximize performance.

top off your brake fluid, low brake fluid will disable VDC and cause your e-brake light to come on occasionally. literally top it off completely in the master cylinder reservoir in the engine bay.

regarding going 100+ and having the car start having issues, you COULD be limping the transmission but this usually just means you won't be able to rev over 4000 RPMs - has nothing to do with your speed. if you're having issues only related to speed and can still rev, could be something else.
