Analyze This Run

I went to the track tonight. I was able to get 6 runs in.

Here's my best:
60' 2.192
1/8 9.364
MPH 77.0
1/4 14.553
MPH 94.32

For weight reduction I took out spare tire, jack, floor mats, and passenger seat.
I currently have Hankook all season tires.

What do you all suggest I do to get into the 13's NA? My mods are in my sig.

Once I get to the 13's NA I plan to put nitrous on my car so I can run 12's.

Like many here I am on a limited budget. I have always wanted my car to hit 13's since I got it 6 years ago. I was thinking of the best bang for the buck mods I haven't done yet. Would you think the Transgo Stage 2 upgrade will get me there? Or, do I need more power first?

I dont see how i made 220whp vs your 235whp and my best time was a 14.0 @100mph vs your 14.5 @94mph

All i had was a intake and open exhaust. I did have a manual transmission though.

Very Interesting. Did you have the wheels in your sig on at the track when you ran the 14.0? Are they lighter than stock? Nice looking car by the way.

Yea i had these wheels. I think they weigh the same. These are the stock wheels that come on the evo8.

Somthing is wrong, this just looks like the red car w/ an actual good launch.

The local auto here was trapping 97 IIRC w/ those mods.

Something is wrong with my car? I don't have a check engine light, and she seems to run fine.

what track are you running at? you're trapping lower than a lot of stock 3.5 autos and you have lots of boltons.

+1

Maybe the DA was really high the day that you ran.

i would say one or a combination of the following is happening:

a) you ran at a slow track
b) your dyno reads higher than it should
c) your dyno was accurate but something has changed (your car has lost power) between the time you dynod and the time you ran at the track
d) it was hot as hell with low pressure the day you ran at the track
e) you weigh 700lbs

The track I go to is Great Lakes Drag Way in Union Grove, WI. The DA for the time I ran my 14.5 was only 18 feet above sea level according to the calculator on dragtimes.com. My dyno tune session was with an open exhaust cut-out. I've since replaced the cut-out with my stock cat, because the cut-out was rusting real bad. Maybe I should get a more quality electric cut-out again. Perhaps that is my issue. So, this time at the track I had the stock cat and cat-back in place. Maybe it's too much of a bottle neck for my car. Although the dynojet read 235 whp it wasn't a 3rd gear pull. One of the shop owners was being an idiot, and he wouldn't listen to me about that. The dyno reading was from flooring the car, so it might have been a 1st or 2nd gear pull. I'm not sure. I appreciate the advice you all have given. Does it make sense that the lack of exhaust cut-out this time made the difference?

The lack of the cutout could definitely make a difference considering the car was tuned with the cutout in place.

Now the tune is off, so the car will definitely not be running like it should.

Electric Cut-out is next on my list then. We'll see what happens after that.

well GLD is not a slow track, i've always run just fine at GLD, and it sounds like you had an excellent DA, so that's not your issue.

i don't believe that the lack of cutout at the track vs your dyno would account for how low your trap is, but it certainly isn't helping matters.

I'll more than likely get another dyno run in soon. I'd like to see where the car is at. I'll know where to go from there. I've been wanting to get a better cut-out and the transgo shift kit any way. I have a whole winter coming to figure this out.
