Garmin Nav- OEM integration

Has anyone tried this or know how much it costs? I've emailed them and am waiting a response. It looks like an awesome alternative for people that did not get Nav stock.

I just put a Nexus 7 in mine =) Works nicely (minus the reverse camera).

Did you replace the oem screen? Were you able to integrate into oem stereo?

It replaced the oem screen but the stereo is aftermarket. You could integrate it with the OEM stereo, but there would be some work-around required to get the audio hooked up (either direct connection via 3.5mm jack to auxiliary - wouldn't look nice; or by bluetooth gateway device - much cleaner).

I use the program Copilot from the Google Play store. It cost some money for the offline maps, but it wasn't a lot ($10).

So this is in an S model? I'm really looking to keep my factory head unit and Bose system. I'm looking for an oem look nav system. The one from the link looks perfect for me.

Holy crap. If you somehow manage to fit a double din up top, I need to see that!

bigdnno98, it's an S model without nav. I could have kept the stock stereo system but wanted to connect the tablet without having wires sticking out somewhere (i.e. the auxiliary port). Either way, just showing you one possibility. If you go with the one from Audio Spa Tech, let us know.

Someone on the 7thgenmax facebook page posted this and I'd be interested to see someone install it. http://m.aliexpress.com/item/5290359...bilesitedetail

Shipwreck, I will for sure. I asked for either a tablet or double din hu for Christmas from my gf...I'm looking at something that'll mimic my iphone so I've been looking into the app radio. Also there's no cd with app radio so the depth shouldn't be an issue, now I just gotta wait

I put an app radio 2 in my wife's frontier and we did not like it. Esp with iPhone 5. When I say she didn't like it, I mean she hated it. Sometimes the apps would work sometimes they wouldn't, sometimes you had to press ok on the phone sometimes you didn't. Sometimes it showed the phone display on the screen sometimes it didn't. It was a real PITA and for some reason didn't come with a remote. I strongly recommend checking out similar radios from different brands.

Thanks for the feedback, that'll def help with my decision because I have the iphone 5...I wonder if the app radio 3 improved these issues, I'll have to email them with my concerns

Shipwreck I like the one in that link. I wonder if the steering wheel controls will still work and the oem USB connection will still work.

That's my biggest qualm with a lot of double din units on the market. They're very expensive and yet the quality of their operating system is total crap. Lag issues. Insensitivity of screen. Delays in connection between your bluetooth device (e.g. phone, ipod). This is one of the biggest reasons why the tablet seemed like the best option for me. I could have even taken it a step further and made it the "double din" like this guy did in his subi: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2459432

Again, bottom line is you got options! It just depends on how much work & resources you want to put into it.

Your guess is as good as mine on the steering controls. I had to get an Axxess steering wheel control interface and it still doesn't do all the buttons with my Pioneer unit even after a manual program. It might be something to do with the resistance in the ground I chose or my tapping points (they aren't soldered - but they're solid connections and they work!).

Autospatech quoted me at $999 shipped for a 100% plug and play kit. Hmmm.... I wonder how much the factory system costs?

Probably a lot more than that I think.. What exactly is included for that price? What is being replaced from the oem system?

The screen is being replaced for a garmin touch screen. It is then completely integrated into the factory system. All factory controls work. You then touch the touch screen to enable the nav and input all info on the touch screen

I've got Nav/DVD/Bose already in my car as it is premium. I wouldn't want to mess with it, although those setups might be bit more handy. I'd love to update those maps :S.

I hate the fact that my car has HDD Navigation Maps and can only be updated through Agency which will rip you off!

The screen on this one reverts back to oem when the garmin is not in use.
