Rear ended 12/08/13

Hey guys I got rear-ended last week. I was wondering if anyone knows how much it's going to cost to get this fixed. My rear bottom frame of the car is bent inwards (yellow marks). The trunk is gone, it's bent inwards and the paint is chipped all over. Also my tail lights are all gone. I was wondering if the 2010 tail lights and the 2013 tail lights are around the same price?

I'm assuming you didn't let insurance handle it.

It looks like you need a new boot, taillights and possibly a new bumper. If, however you are concerned with getting it fixed right, take it to a shop to have them assess any internal damage.

The person that hit me didn't have insurance. So now I have to go through my insurance and pay the $500 deductible. Im going in Monday to get an estimate but I just wanted to see how much its going to cost to get it fixed. Also are the 2010 tail lights the same price as the 2013's? I like the 2013 tail lights better than the ones I had.

Tail Lamp assembly is like $400 each. 2010s are/were same price as 2012s.

I have the part numbers for each ... I'll post them when I get home

I'm sorry that this happened to you. People like that really annoy me. If you don 't have insurance, don't drive! The uninsured motorist part of my policy covers all cost, I don't have to pay a deductible. I would double check to see if this is true with your insurance company.

I was hit in the rear in similar fashioning with my 2010 Accord. The insurance company said that the chassis was bent and declared the car as a total wreck. They paid me the total amount which I used to purchase a new Maxima. Work with your insurance company first or you will be chasing your tail.

I just don't get it. So, if some a-h doesn't have insurance, he gets off free and goes along his merry way. Meanwhile, the innocent driver is stuck with paying for the mess the a-h created. Something very wrong with that.

Unfortunately uninsured motorist is an add on with most policies and a lot of people don't have it, they trust that the other person will have at least liability....not these days...

They lock up people all day in south florida for dwi. Unfortunately if you get hit by someone if they are a real !@#$ up chances are they dont have insurance. My father got reared by a woman and he didnt call the police on her cause she didnt have ins and started crying. To top it off she was on her phone when she rear ended him. The best that can happen to op is if it was totaled/bent frame(assuming his insurance is going to cover him). But this collision does not look that serious.

good luck.... dont brush off any neck pains cause that will stick around its not always something you can sleep off.

You are right. I've always included it in my policies...I know there are many people in my area that drive without insurance.

still backwards that the people who are already obeying the law have to pay an extra stipend to protect them financially from people who are breaking the law riding without insurance. my sister was hit in a cross-walk by an uninsured motorist and basically got nothing.

I Agree. Our system is so F'D up

The op should go to a auto body shop that will Roll his deductible into cost of repairs. Costing him 0. Out of his pocket. It's all who you know , and how to negotiate.....

I totally agree. It's BS....people like that should be dealt with by the law after an incident like that.

I'm sorry about your sister, & I hope she recovered fully.

I agree...that system is messed up. In MA, you can't register a car without insurance, so I'm not familiar with the laws regarding uninsured drivers. So if someone causes an accident while uninsured, then get an immediate invite to court.

Definitely deal with your insurance company and fight paying anything, even your deductible. Since you weren't at fault, your insurance company should be the ones suing the driver, and you shouldn't be paying a dime. Thats what insurance companies are for.

When I moved from upstate NY to FL my car insurance almost doubled. The insurance company explained that is due to the large number of Floridians that do not have auto insurance. I can't understand why the state of FL does not enforce the auto insurance policy. Uninsured motorist policies are a must because you never know who will hit you.

Man that sucks!

The same thing happened to me in August. I was driving an '08 Altima at the time and some d-bag rear ended me while I was sitting at a red light. To top it off, he took off before I could get my bearings and get out of the car. Luckily, he didn't get far since his car was also f'd up. As I was sitting in the ambulance getting checked out, the cops said they caught the guy. Of course, he had no insurance. The cop asked if I wanted to press charges and I said "HELL YEAH!"

Anyway, long story short, my Altima was totaled and luckily, I had uninsured motorists on my policy. With the insurance settlement, I was able to put a nice chunk of cash down on my Max, so it worked out for the better, I suppose.

I hope it all works out for you man.
