Trading 18" alloys for 19" Sport rims

Hey guys/girls,

I was wondering, is there a place to buy the OEM 19" sport wheels, the dark hyper silver (or whatever they're called) ones? I want to see if I can trade the ones on my current car for those. I understand there will be some cost associated.

I called Nissan Parts and the guy gave me some spiel about myVINbeingsonewthatit'snotupdatedinhissystemsoheca n'ttellmehowmuchtherimscostsindividually.....breat he...I have to call back in a few days because the update is forthcoming...yada yada yada.....

If not it's cool, there's a shop in Waldorf, Md that I'm going to check out and see what they have....their prices are super reasonable, almost to the point of eyebrow raising lol.

You can find the OEM 19's in perfect condition with almost new tires for like 800-900 in the forums and FB groups. the OEM 18's on the other hand dont sell very much. if you have the OEM gunmetal 18's those may, but the standard ones I ended up keeping as a winter set because I couldnt even sell them for $400 with tires.

Thanks for the advice. I looked in the classifieds section on this site, but I didn't find any. I'll look again though.

I sent a request to join the FB site, it hasn't been granted yet though, so I can't really see anything.

The trick with calling the parts dept of a Nissan dealership is having the correct vin. If you want a certain part that's not on your car (eg smoked tail lights) simply find a maxima that's being sold somewhere that has the part you want and grab that vin number.

Then call the parts dept back and give them the vin from the other car.

That's how their databases are setup. Most of the guys who work that counter have no clue what the hell the part actually is or the different flavors it comes in. They do everything by vin.

What happens after that? They just give you the price? It makes sense after you explain it.... I couldn't figure out why the guy needed my VIN.... I told him the rims are the same ones as the sport model...... He's like yeah I just need your VIN.....

So I find one online, give Hidden Parts the VIN, and profit?

Thanks for the info

Exactly. Just go to a random Nissan dealer web page (for new cars) or truecar.com (for used cars) find your favorite Max and grab the vin.

They'll (Nissan dealerships) usually give you list price, which is more than you should pay. call around to other dealers in the area and get their price too. You can definitely haggle these prices.

Secondary suppliers, Nissan courtesy parts, etc will list the parts a bit cheaper than a dealer.

Check out Quirk Nissans eBay page once you have the part number, they've generally got pretty cheap prices (even compared to the discount guys).

Thanks Dudemaine! The more I look at wheels, the more I want something not stock lol. Here are two I'm looking at (I don't have the biggest budget, so I'm not buying Vossen's, lol)

or

I want to keep it clean, and I like how the gunmetal and machined lip look.

No problem, bro Namath. I'm in the same predicament; I have the '19 aluminum light hyper silver wheels and I wish they were the dark ones to match my slate metallic exterior for that monochromatic look.

What I'm gonna do is get them powder coated; kinda pricey $660 for all 4 wheels. Could I find cheaper? Yea, I'm sure I could, but the company is legit and their photo section speaks for itself, so I just look at it as, like all things in life you get what you pay for.

Here is a set on craigslist. Seems like a good price. Mine has some scratches. I should but these. But here you go.

Here's how I scored mine. I checked craigslist daily for people selling there max. Found a guy with an 07 that had the '12 sport wheels. Sent him a message offering cash and my 18's for his. Gave em $500 plus my wheels which I thought was a fair deal. Both with basically brand new tires. Then getting then color matched the best as possible to the hyper black's. So basically try to find someone selling there car cuz they might want that extra cash without necessarily losing lots of value on the car. Other than that you will prolly have to toss up a good chunk of change.

Just re-read your post's, I thought you wanted the newer one's. The older sport wheels you can def score on the cheap.

Getting OEM 19" light hyper silver wheels powder coated this week -- still undecided as to color, but pretty sure I'm gonna go matte black (which still has some shine to it) instead of an all-out gloss black. Will post pics when completed & mounted

Thanks for the tip. I emailed a guy I found on CL, but he didn't want to trade. I found a shop locally that I'll be able to get a wheel/tire package for about $1300, so I'll probably go with them.

I found about 10 ads on eBay of 2011 and 2012 19" rims w/ tires. This was a couple of weeks ago that I saw them and I looked today and only see 2 or 3. They are selling as soon as people post the ads and they aren't at bad prices. The highest I saw was 2011 19" wheels with tires (all with very good tread) for 1400 or best offer. I don't know if they allow you trade in (probably not) but many of the 18" wheels/tires are selling for like 600-700 shipped on eBay. My eyes have now been set on the 20" M56S wheels. Do you guys think those wheels are too heavy for our already heavy Max?
