So what are you doing to the engine? is it being rebuilt? Are you planning to mill the head down or install special pistons?

The engine is already at 10.0 compression, and requires premium gas as it is.

you can not bore an engine and gain compression neither do work on heads and expect an increase in compression its the exact opposite.

Do you know what your doing.??

Does that mean you cant increase compression by turning the screw on the ecu?

Such an expensive process tho.
Injectors, tune, turbo, ecu and the list goes on.

Plus the break specific fuel consumption is on e85 is .7lbs per hour+

Why spend so much doe on old betsy??!

Lmao the screw on the back yea that too add a couple MSD stickers while you at it

Um, yes you can. Increased cylinder volume and same combustion chamber volume equals higher combustion ratio.

Thanks for the input. I can't say your wrong sir.
Looking back at my notes yes clearance volume +cyl. Swept volume / by clearance volume does equal more compression.
I try not to talk out of my a$$ 90% of the time.

Shaving the head decreases combustion chamber size and increases compression as a result.

Seems like a lot of work on our engines though.

Premium? I've been using Regular the past three years I've owned the Maxima.

Premium is RECOMMENDED but not required in our engines.

You're knock sensor hates your guts and will let you know sooner or later.

You own one of the 10 best engines on the planet.

Why not show it some GD respect.

No point in using low octane fuel to save money. All that happens is that the knock sensor retards the ignition to stop pinging, and that in turn spoils the fuel economy. Unless of course your KS isn't working, and that means you're going to get detonation, which in time will ruin the motor. Hell, back in the good ole days, I could buy 102 octane in the UK, needed for my Triumph TR6.

I've Been driving my 97 with the KS code and on regular gas for almost a year now. LOL. Not because I want to but because I'm poor. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but when the KS dies, dosn't the ECU relize that the KS is bad and retard the timing to a pre-set parameter just to be safe. My old 90 Mazda MX-6 GT (turbo) would retard the ignition timing way back when the KS bit the dust.

dude, if ur that poor go to radio shack and for 2 bucks u get a pack of like 3 resistors.and throw one in!!..u have to burn good gas after that but u will fell low rpm hp increase trustme...and better gas milafge too!

Not fixing the KS is dumb. You can get them so cheaply. And it is not that tough to replace, find someone with small hands. The difference between no KS and KS good is like having a new car again. Loads more performance and much better fuel economy.
