ALTIMA Backup camera w/ blind spot detection & lane departure warning in MAXIMA?

So I was surfing the bay looking for the next best thing to do for my Maxima, and stumbled across this for $195 shipped.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-2013-NISSAN-ALTIMA-SEDAN-BACK-UP-CAMERA-w-BLIND-SPOT-DETECTION-28442-3TA0A-/321238613834?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4acb503f4a&vxp=mtr#viTabs_0
It's the 2013 Altima's backup cam that also has

  • Rear Proximity Detection
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Lane Departure Warning System
I wonder if anybody here has tried to put this in their maxima with the navigation package. I'm thinking all it would take is too swap out the cameras and maybe swap the cable connecting it to the navigation, as this one seems to have a few more wires in it.

I also see it was replaced by 28442-3TA0C for the 2013 Altima, guessing its a newer version of hte sensor, but I'm not willing to pony up $360 for that one, when this is around $195 shipped.

I would love to have the blind spot monitoring feature, as that is one of the safest features I have ever seen on a vehicle (rented an 2014 MKS loaded, and love the blind spot sensor).

So what do you guys think, can it be done?

No, there is more to it. There has to be different/additional software for the blindspot detection system. Meaning if you add this to the navi equipped maxima the most you would get to work is the backup cam.

oh great.....another person that thinks technology will make them a better driver..... nothing beats "mirror, signal, head check" LOL

But no it's not that easy. Much more to it.

If it wasn't for technology we would still be using candles for headlights. It's about safety, and yes blind spot detection blows the water out of the old "mirror, signal, head check method" since your eyes leave the road in front of you, and even with a head check, until you have fully changed into the other lane, the is always the possibility of a car 2 lanes over moving into the same lane.

Trust me, I have over 500,000 miles driven under my belt, and blind spot detection is one of the safest features you can put on a car, if not the safest, due to car pillars blocking a drivers partial view.

But thanks for the info about the being much more to hooking up the Altima camera, but one way or another I will add blind spot detection to my Maxima.

Where there is will, the is way!

this would most definitely not work without some kind of software to interpret the new information which I doubt is compatible with the Maxima system. good luck to you. my advice also would be to just turn and look, the Max has great visibility.

There's no reasonable way to integrate parking assist or blind spot detection, the only way is a standalone system.

For blind spot detection, this is the first thing I came across:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...DS-003016.html

For parking assist, this has worked out very well and has some nice other features with it:
