Unfortunately you can't add the OEM ones, there's no mounting bolts or connections to plug them into. You'd most likely need the entire steering column from the Maximas that do have it, and still need to do some custom wiring. Haven't seen any aftermarket ones available.

It really does depend on which year you purchased. My 2013 has holes concealing the paddle connections behind them. The steering piece that contains the mounting holes can be purchased independently. You could just try and mounting them on your own. However, if your just going to drill self tapping mounting screws into the column then you should just put chrome foil and 13" wheels on your ride while your at it.

Oh and to answer the original posters question on his ride. I don't believe the S model will contain said prewiring. I believe only the SV models contain them because the S is intentionally left stripped down of options.

You would think people want options but my wife took a brand new 5 series BMW with 6k miles on it for trade a Versa S with no options but cruise control this puppy had window handles on it. The lady was older but as soon as she hopped in the car she said "finally a car I can understand" she wanted a car with nothing on it.

That being said I don't think I would ever use paddle shifters even if I had them. I love the feel of a Manual, right before you pull into a tight corner you shift so you don't bog on that tight turn. I just don't imagine I would get use to paddling down even if others have given up the stick for the paddle.

You still need to plug them in so the transmission can interact with them.

I hardly ever use mine. Also they are stationary to the column. So when you're turning and want to shift it's hard to hit the paddle. Wish they were attached to the wheel.
IMO it's not worth installing them.

Paddle shifters

I have always been here in the shadows but have never really been a member until now. I own a fast car already but I fell in love with the Maxima after I test drove the 2013 they had on sale at the time. I picked it up with 40miles on the odo at 24K. I couldn't resist I loved the refined power it contained. I love cars in general but have developed a love for Nissan because of their 3.5 engine variant. The amount of power from this 3.5 is incredible the 3.7 is also a good advancement in the way of power. These engines really pack a punch with minimal boost.

I tried jumping back into my boosted 4 cylinder which is way faster than my Maxima and the ride seemed very primitive to me. The ride was very ruff and the road noise was almost foreign to me. It could be that my old ride is just a little scion TC but the feeling of riding in the Maxima is very different in a good way.

I guess with the big novels I write in reply are to say we all love our rides in a way that it brings us all together. It is never a problem to help another with something we all love. The excitement of owning such a machine has always given me such a great joy. I love cars period and If I can help anyone out with that it is never a problem.
