I'm curious is Altezza Black clear tail lights any good?

Incase you're not sure what I'm talking about this is what it looks like

 

Oem 2003 se tails look better imo.

I don't like the 2003 version not a fan of chrome look style. As you didn't know most people on here with 02-03 Maxima they changed their tail lights to same as 01 SE.

Since the tail light has clear plastic now you have to find red and abmer bulbs.

Yea cause my 03 SE comes with the Chromes. Which year comes with black?

 

They look better on more modern cars like the 04-08 acura tl. These clash on our cars especially with the color silver.

Only 2000 Anniversary and 2001 Maxima comes with black tailightlights regular 2000 non-anniversary comes with most **** tail light it fully covered in red!

That would def not look good it would be a completely mismatch especially for my Max is gray lol.

That why I'm going for JDM Black Altezza clear. I will post the result.

 

I think the clear ones look horrible imo. I like the 5.5's the best with the amber bottom. I want to put the amber center into my gen 5 tails with the black border.

I dont want to make another tail light thread so I decided to ask in here.

Does anyone with experience with this mod give me a suggestion as to whether I should spray the insides with testors candy apple or should I do the vinyl overlay route?

I know the vinyl will work but it seems a little hard. The spray paint however makes me wonder if I will be left with a clear ring around and through the red oval. If it does would I be able to tape it all off and paint the outside, finishing with some VHT clear coat.

All red tails, 5th gen:

Came on all 2000-2001 GXE & GLE Maximas


Black SE Tails (20th AE):

Came on all 2000-2001 SE Maximas only, although haven't seen many 2000's with them, so maybe it was a late addition for the late 2k's going into 01?


Then we got this abomination of a RICER, altezza style lights on the 5.5 gens:

Every single 5.5gen Maxima came with these ugly things. But if you look on Google for 5.5gen SE you will notice how most of those have switched over to the 20th AE black lights.




^ These I think can look really good, especially on the right car. Like a black Maxima, or at least one with clear side markers and other lights being all clear/white.


BUT you know what the difference is? ^ Those are just blacked out not the same as the carbon look on the 2k1's. Why not just buy the OEM 20th AE tails? I know they can be found here for sure...

The 20th AE tails get compliments all the time, they look so good when clean and in the sun that people ask if they're aftermarket and get pleasantly surprised when you tell em nope it's OEM. ^^ Those lights, they look like aftermarket and will not get the same response.

 

He does have a point I do noticed SE/AE tails do get alot good compliments about it. Actually one time I went to shop getting my alternator upgrade the man asked how I got those taillights I laughed and said, "Oh it came with the car it OEM." I was surprised he actually never noticed it.

 

I made a last minute decision and bought a pair of 01 SE tails. I will decide when they are in my hands whether to red out or not.

 

Trust me you don't want to red out your tail lights it looks horrible that for sure.

 

Is it because it never comes out correctly or you just do not like how it looks? If you are trying to tell me that it never looks proper then I will take your advise. I do like the all red brake/turn look but I am not willing to go great lengths to get it to match perfectly.

Just in my opinion it just look horrible and feels very much less attention. I get a lot compliments about my 5th gen tail lights. Once again just saying and that my opinion that all!

 

I have the all red and clear tails from the 5th gen 01 GLE. I'm more then happy to trade you for the 01 SE with the black ring if these are the ones you want. They dont lil bad but being that i just put the stock spoiler on it stands out and my cars black so i need these tail lights.
