Ok so its been a while since I have been on the Org but I cant tell if its my new computer with this stupid Windows 8 or the site. If I click anywhere in the dead grey space it make ads pop up and a new page open. It tells me the "site" needs me to download a new browser and video player...is anyone else getting this crap????

Ah, sounds like you need to download flash because the bottom ad is a flash ad.

You are sort of in my situation. My computer is not doing the same thing as yours, but it still drives me nuts.

I worked in Info Tech 35 years, had no trouble writing very complex computer programs in any of almost a dozen computer languages (even down to basic binary and octal), and retired from a large company (over 50K employees) as a senior computer systems analyst. But that career was from the late 1950s until the mid-1990s. The world of technology has completely changed since then, and I feel left behind.

I now have so much security technology incorporated into my computer that I have to bring up my system 30 to 45 minutes before I need to use it, because all kinds of security software (I do lots of financial work on my computer) and scans insist on taking up all the CPU time for extended periods before they will let me begin work. But that is still better than having a virus have full control of my computer.

Just as a general practice, I NEVER click on email attachments from ANYBODY unless I know the person who sent them, and they let me know they would be arriving.

And, more pertinent to your situation, I NEVER click on any link in any popup telling me I need to update anything. If I think the popup may be legit, I do not use it, but go directly to the site of the company supposedly sending the popup and work from that site.

I often do not update to the latest version of anything, because newly-released versions of almost any process tend to have early bugs that will eventually be corrected. As they used to say in Rome, 'the early Christians got fed to the lions.' I try to avoid being an 'early Christian.'

Maybe someone else here can respond more directly to your specific situation.
