Every morning when I start my car up, it makes a weird grinding noise. I made a video of it this morning. You can start to hear it around 19 seconds and you can really hear it at 35 seconds. Anyone know what this is?

 

At .35 it sounds like the Cat heat shield rattling.

 

Is this something that'll be covered by my warranty? I have a 7 year/100k mile warranty

 

it's a nissan. it always makes weird noises. what did you expect ? a toyota ?

Pop the hood have someone start it and check to see what side the noise is coming from. Start by the passenger side around where the pulleys are at. Be careful when looking down in there. Where eye protection and use a flash light.

 

I would think so. On my 5th gen I had a rattle after starting it that was similar to yours. The dealer ended up replacing one of the precats near the engine under the warranty.

I would just take it to get it checked out, especially since you have the warranty still in place.
