wassup nissan fam when i turn on my ac it justs blows hot air shouldnt cold air come right out?? do i maybe need one of those cans the ac cool can thing ? would the car give codes if the ac is messed up?? thanks in advance

 

If the refrigerant (R134A) has leaked out, the car will not give you any codes.

Check and see if the compressor is turning when you have the air conditioning on. If it isn't, then the refrigerant has probably leaked out. If it has, there could be a leak and if you buy a can of refrigerant, it will just leak out, too. So it becomes a gamble. Try a can of refrigerant and hope that it doesn't leak out or take it to a mechanic and have the system tested for leaks.

But if the compressor is running, you may have a problem with the controls in the dash or an air duct problem.

so i had someone test my system and they say its working fine my only problem is inside the air isnt cold it stays hot he said he had to check but i had no time so basically the air isnt being converted into cold air any ideas before i go back in to the shop if i even need to???

 

Only way you know if you have refrigerant in your system is you get a gauge and plug in the low pressure port, and turn on your a/c on High Max and if the gauge is not moving, then you are out, if the gauge went all the around the needle, your compressor is not working, even though you may see the clutch engage, possibly a compressor failed.

 

If the compressor is truly running, then you have an air duct problem. The way Nissan designed the system, the outside air comes into the car, passes through the a/c evaporator core and gets cooled (if the compressor is running).

Then, based on the temperature setting on the heater controls in the dash, the air is routed through the heater core to warm it up or around the heater to the air outlets in the dash. There could also a "mixing" process to give you warm air where some of the goes through the heater core and some by-passes it.

Inside the air duct is a door that channels the air either through the heater core or around it. Nissan calls it the AIR MIX DOOR. It is controlled by a small electric motor, which in turn is controlled by the heater controls.

The Air Mix Door Motor is located inside the car, just about dead center of the car next to the firewall above the ECU.

This motor could be bad and not moving, the linkage between the motor and the Air Mix Door could have fell off or broke or the heater controls are bad.

But first check fuse #19, a 10 amp fuse. It is in the dash fuse panel by the driver's door, middle row, 2nd from the right end.
