Would this mod seem to be a bit "rice"? I personally feel it could.. any opinions?

Yes. I got the puddle lights on mine and get nothing but compliments when someone sees it for first time.

The install is easy as it comes with the drill bit. I wired them to the door litght. Only caution is getting the arm rest off, as you need to remove the door panel. Make sure you remove the screws that hold the window and door switches. Manual seemed to be of limited value, some one needs to make a video. They look very neat, contrary to what the above commented.
