Cracking sound coming from roof when its cold

Does anyone else experience cracking sounds coming from the roof when its cold out? This happens to me when i first drive the car after letting it sit outside in the cold all night. Every small bump causes the cracking sounds to happen. It sounds like sheets of ice breaking apart. I've never experienced this with any other car so i'm wondering if this is normal?

I'm watching this thread, I get a bit of the same a distinct cracking (like ice) sound. Happened the past few days (temp dropped to 15 degrees F) at night.

Same here. I have a very annoying 2" drop from my driveway to the road. That 's the very first drop the car feels, and especially when I take it slow you can hear it creaking/cracking. I believe some material would have had to be built to give into bending or something that's making the noise. I don't want to hear that my panoramic moon roof is at risk of breaking just because of the cold.

.... then again, I just parked my Max in the garage for the winter so I don't know why I'm worried. But for the sake of ALL 7th gen Max owners, what's the deal here?

I have the regular sunroof, and mine does this too. Normal me thinks.

I noticed this last winter. Once it warms up, there is no rattle or crackle.
It started happening again.
I would wager that a trip to the dealership would result in them not being able to replicate the problem.

Folks - Here in Texas I had the same problem all the time and took it to the dealership. They ended up identifying it as the airbag controller (may have the terms wrong) for the side impact airbags. They padded it the first time because they said they couldn't do anything with it based on federal rules, then the next time I took it in with the same problem they said that was incorrect (as far as federal rules) and either tightened some bolts or something else. Sorry I forget what they exactly did, but it fixed the problem.

The issue I was having it would make cracking type noises when going over bumps, not necessarily when it was cold as it does not get too cold here in San Antonio. The dealership did have to remove the headliner, but they did a quality job with no issues. Hope that helps.
