lateral shift/hop in rear end

Anyone have any experience/advice with the rear end shifting/hopping laterally when hitting a bump?
I was thinking of replacing all the shocks soon anyway, but wanted to inquire on this possible 'issue' prior to that.
Any info, experiences, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like your suspension is blown in the rear. Does it bounce a lot when u hit dips on the road?

I have a 2005 SE with 55K and I have noticed the same thing. Once in a while I notice a slight lateral move to the left after hitting a bump. At first I thought it was my imagination and attributed it to stiffer suspension and low profile tires--I was driving a Saturn Vue before, but the ride otherwise is great. If you have pursued the issue and found anything out, please let me know.

I haven't pursued this issue as of yet. The car doesn't bounce vertically, but more of a sideways 'shift'. Most commonly experienced when driving over a manhole cover or a smaller imperfection in the road.
I am gathering supplies piecemeal for the rehabbing the suspension along with the Racingline lowering springs. It may be a while before all the supplies are gathered, budgets and all, but hopefully not too much longer.
