Just need to know if the fuel consumption at idle is normal or does it have something to do with po101 code

Helps to know which year Maxima you're asking about.

Fuel consumption at idle is almost none, so the bar will be at the top.

Fuel consumption may be very low, but mph is zero so graph should be at bottom or zero. P0101 should be MAF related so car may not know how much air is coming in even though your CEL is not on yet. I would make sure that the MAF is indeed functioning correctly and the car is not running some default "limp" mode.

If you have a K&N air filter, the oil on them has been know to mess with the heater wires in the MAF.

Hey it's a 2011 maxima sv with premium pkg so it's not normal that the bar is all the way at the top on idle ? And this kinda thing has something to do with the maf malfunctioning ? And last how do I know if something isn't right with the mAf on my vehicle

Shouldn't it be the opposite ?

My mind is fried this week. Yes, instantaneous mileage reads 0 when stopped.

Thats correct because speed is the y factor in this equation. So at zero mph the bar should be at the bottom because there is nothing for the computer to calculate fuel consumption by.

post a pic if you can but at idle the bar should at the highest number mpg because you are not using any gas really, the lower the number (bar to the left) the less miles per gallon you are getting and more gas is being used

I will take a pic of it as soon as I get the chance but the bar I'm talking about is the bar at the lcd display screen on the same screen where u can reset the L/100KM and yes when I'm on idle the bar is all the way to the top so that's normal ?

yes, it is on mine, when the car stops the bar should be all the way at the highest MPG being used being you are not using any, i know that sounds strange but its monitoring the miles u are using per gallon, so if none is being used the it should be spiked to high numbers as if you were getting 80 miles per gallon

I don't know if I'm wrong or confused but isn't MPG and L/100KM opposite or reversed ??

lol guys if the car is not moving than no distance is being gained. so it will be 0 mpg even in a Prius. I am not sure if OP means the car is not moving when he says idle ... Maybe your reading the graph wrong? Take a pic...... Think about it guys 0 miles/ (1 Gallon) will always = 0!

So much false info in this thread smh.

Yeah. MILE per GALLON and LITERS per KILOMETER are inverse measurements. DISTANCE per volume of fuel is MPG. VOULME OF FUEL per distance is L/100KM. Meaning MPG is 0 at idle. L/100KM is very hight (technically infinite) at idle.

So when my lcd display is at L/100KM and I'm at idle meaning my car is either on P or D while I'm holding breaks and the bar is all the way to the top does that mean it's normal

Normal. The fuel consumption gauge is max as in it is reading that the current fuel economy is 30+ MPG. If you were accelerating, it would decrease, and if you were to floor your car putting the CVT into the maximum acceleration ratio it would be at 0 MPG (nothing on the bar graph).

Ok I see that's weird because the harder I press on the gas the more it goes up but the softer I press the gas the bar doesn't go up by much

exactly because the harder you press on the gas the more fuel you are consuming so the numbers will be higher, hence the reason the bar is going up, you are using more fuel

Oh wow, now I am really starting to think my MAF is bad -- 9.4L/100KM? mine says 14.2L/100KM

Are you highway driving?
