So I have a 96 5speed that I just 00vi swapped. would there be an advantage to have a 95 ECU instead?

Depends on well you did the swap, after your swap do you have any check engine light codes do to sensors which are now not present? If so after any swaps mentioned above the major benefit is to get rid of those codes by using a 95 ecu

And pass inspection
