2 issues... stalling out in drive and rough idle???

Learning a 98' Maxima is a different beast than my 74' BMW 2002 totally... So I fixed the fuel pump so it starts now. After running for a while the idle sits around 1000-800 rpms smooth. But when I give it gas it goes up to about 2k and is rough and struggles to go any higher?
Also when I take it out of P R or N its fine but when I put in any of the Drives
D 2 or 1 it stalls out. I have no clue.
I bought a knock sensor with new connection. Pain in the @$$ to get to. I have fat hands... I bought a VSS but have not installed yet. So I have no clue what the exact issue is... Anbody live in Jacksonville??? Thanks for your help guys.

Sounds like the classic MAF or MAF/IATS. Check for codes but sometimes the MAF, if intermittently failing will not trip a DTC.

Carbon or Charcoal?

So after taking the throttle body off, IACV off to clean. I found all this black stuff clogged all the air lines? What is this stuff? Is this carbon or charcoal from a type of filter in the EGR system?

Carcoal canister is coming apart. there is a TSB. I havent replaced the canister yet, I did place a fuel liter in the evap line to stop the charcoal though. New canister is $30 on Rockauto.

Do you guys think that the leaking Vapor canister would cause the car not to be drivable if the entire EGR system is clogged with charcoal?

it would be a good idea to get all that carbon out of the EGR, Carbon in the car is no good.. it blocks air passage ways.

Still EVAP issue?

So after I blew all the charcoal out of the lines from the leaky canister. I started the car with out the EVAP line and the car ran and I drove it with no stalling out. So after reconnecting the EVAP line the car now stalls when I put it in Reverse or Drive? Hmm I have no clue now? Any ideas? I am going to Harbor Freight to buy a ODB code reader... I am at wits end...

has to be something with the EVAP that is causing your problem. the fact u said it drove the way it was supposed to without it, tells you something..
