2010 Maxima SV - No throttle response

Hello everyone, I have a 2010 Maxima SV with roughly 105,000 miles on it. The service engine light came on last night and it had a little "whine" to it when accelerating from stops. I went this morning to go have the code read by a mechanic and the car completely died on me before I got out of the neighborhood. No throttle response and if you are in gear and press the gas it won't go above 2k rpm and it will start rolling back since I was on a hill. It was like it was a permanent neutral. Any ideas of what this could be? Thank you for all the help.

For me, it was alternator...but I didn't get a code. Car would respond to throttle in park or neutral, but in gear, lucky to move from a parking space. Because you said the car died, I would suspect alternator and or battery. Sounds electrical to me (alternator whine?)

Let us know what you find.

It came back with code: P0744 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Intermittent

From what I have been reading, Nissan extended the warranties on the CVT until 120K miles correct?

Yes for 2009-2010 models. Have the vehicle towed to your nearest dealer.

Yeah...sounds like a trip to the dealer for diagnosis. Any transmission problems usually results in Nissan recommending replacement. They don't service these transmissions. I just went through a transmission failure, but fortunately had the tools to do some diagnosis myself. Located junkyard transmission, had local shop do replacement for probably 1/3rd the price nissan would charge. This does sound like a failing transmission, though unfortunately.

Please let us know what you find out and best of luck.
