Parking brake POP

So recently I learned how to adjust the parking brake...found, it was easy, and driving a 5spd, it's necessary. So, I pulled it up maybe 4 clicks, it's been tight and holds the car perfect. It popped really loud.
Now it's easy to pull up, both wheels sound like theyre holding (a groan when barely pulled up, and im rocking it) and I was thinking a cable snapped.. But both appear fine? Any idea what might have happened?
It used to be really hard to pull up, with it barely working to hold the car..and now it works fairly easy? Just a bit worried. I don't have a lift to see if something happened under the car.

Something loosened up, it's possible that a cable end has slipped slightly out of it's holding position. You're going to have to inspect the cable ends, both at the caliper and the handle. Pull back as much of the rubber boots as you can to make sure there's no fraying.
