Post-Recall/Passenger Seatbelt Light

Anyone else annoyed by the "new" behavior when the passenger seat is unoccupied?

The light is now on all the time.

Unfortunate that was the design of the recall and we probably have to live with it.

Will I be the first person with a piece of black electric tape on my center console?

(or a screwdriver hole where I smashed the LED)

I had this recall completed on my 2015 Murano. I noticed the light for a total of 20 min after I got back into my car. Has been a non-issue ever since.

On my BMW 535i (two of them), it was up high (near the headliner).

I noticed it for 10-15 minutes, then never noticed it again.

On the Maxima, it is impossible to NOT notice it.

1. Get yourself a woman. (Make sure she weighs enough)
2. Put her in the passenger seat.
3. Light should go out.

Im with ya...irritating as hell. I just picked up my SR after having the oil and recall done. It wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't right there on the dash in plain view. I bet Nissan relocates that light in next year since it now has to be on for everyone to see. Having it out of the direct line of sight is what other manufactures do, but then they knew it going into the design process. Nissan didn't design it that way, and so to appease the whiners about not being able to tell if the system is on or not, have caused a problem for some with this fix.

I suspect removal of the radio trim bezel and disconnecting the light is in order here. I shall be performing this surgery later this evening. For folks not wanting to go that route, a sharpie over the lit portion may just block it out enough.

Always more than one way to skin a cat. I have a fabric marker that puts down a heavy coat. A few passes over the area, let dry and wipe away the excess, Viola" no more light. Temp fix until I get the dash apart and work the light out.

Picture with a cover to show no light passage in the dark.

Very well done.

Since mine is a lease, I'm afraid to goof with it.

Maybe I just plasti-dip the area :-)

I had this recall completed last week. Light is now on when no passenger is in the seat. Not a big deal at all. Lots of other lights on the console.

My Passat did the same thing.

My recall work was done last week. I don't notice the light.
