1996 maxima alarm problems

Hi I've recently noticed that my alarm box under the hood was turned to the off position by the key. When I turn it to the on position and lock my doors it's alarmed but as soon as I open the door the alarm goes off and won't stop until I start the car . Does anyone know how I can solve this problem.

Thanks

Our cars here in North America do not have an alarm box under the hood (or dash or anywhere). Is it possible that maybe the alarm is not a Nissan product?

Original poster lives in Scotland. European model.

The USA maximas have factory alarm systems.

O P, since your car probably does not have a factory installed system, you might find which company made your alarm.

Then you might be able to find instructions, online.

that's the siren for the alarm; it's likely original factory issue. European nissans seem to use that kind of siren for the sound for the alarms rather than the horns in north america.

Looks like the European Nissan alarms differ from the ones in North America.

You might get more help with this alarm issue on European websites.

I wishould you success.
