Which extended warranty should I buy?

I am buying a new 2017 Max and I want to buy the extended warranty. Secuirty plus gold with $100 deductible. I am just not sure which one to buy. I drive about 15kmiles a year and hope to keep the car for 6 or 7 years. I am torn between the following

60mo - 75k miles @ $1669
60mo - 100k miles @ $1966
72mo - 75k @ $1889
72mo - 100k @ $2285

any thoughts?

None. From the article below - "A recent Consumer Reports survey found that 55 percent of owners who purchased an extended warranty hadn’t used it for repairs during the lifetime of the policy.......... And, on average, those who did use it spent hundreds more for the coverage than they saved in repair costs."

Haven't paid for one since '89. Since then, 7 cars and two trucks - and never purchased. If they're willing to sell it for $2K, pay the dealer a 20 - 30% commission, they're betting big that the average cost of a fix will be way less than the net income for the premium.

I fully understand that. I bought a warranty on my murano and never used it. I bought a 2012 maxima that was used and had tge extended warranty transferred to me and had tgr the seat frame replaced twice, w wheel bearings and an electrical harness. This total cost was about 5k

With $100 deductible, that price they offered should be MUCH lower. Out of curiosity, that 72 month 100k is in addition to the factory warrantee, so you're essentially getting 9 year 100k warrantee, right? I'd shoot for zero deductible, and $1500 for that. It's all negotiable. I extended a warrantee on my 07 bought it with 20k miles, extended 5 year at the time (almost out of it's 36 at the time) with zero deductible for $1200. I ended up getting over $13,500 in repairs before the warrantee company finally said that last repair was the last they would do since the car's bluebook was now less then how much they had spent on repairs. So I'd say for the right price and the right plan/conditions those warrantees are worth the piece of mind. Also don't forget, if you ever trade in the car, they are required to pay you back a prorated amount for the remaining warrantee. But you have to put in for it, they just don't figure it out and process you a check.

Also consider shopping the waranty with many dealers, even if they are out of state. I am of course implying that you buy the Official Nissan Waranty. Forget the inpedendant outfits that might come in cheaper but heaven may have to help you get paid on a claim to them.

if you are dead set on buying a warranty, understand the following. Only buy Nissan backed extended warranty, not 3rd party. The month/miles are inclusive the factory warranty, so whatever you are buying will be used above and beyond 3yr/36k miles. So 60month/75k warranty, is really 24month/39k extra warranty.
Finally, you can buy the Nissan extended warranty from any dealer, including online. You don't have to buy it as part of original purchase, unless you want the $$$ rolled into the purchase price and the loan.

Warranties do give you a certain peace of mind, but learning how to wrench and doing repairs DIY style is a better investment. Those $$$ can buy a lot of tools.

Based on the amount of time you plan on keeping the car it makes sense to go with the longest coverage available. It's only a $400 difference for the extra 25k miles of protection based on the pricing you have been given. Let me know if you have any other questions. I work for Nissan and would be happy to help you anyway I can.

Doing the math

Based on 6-7 years and 15000 miles a year you will drive 90000 miles in 6 years so 72 months with 100000 miles makes the most sense for you.

I will likely buy a 3rd party warranty. I had one from Route 66 on my old Honda Odyssey. It was sooo worth it, and they never once denied a claim or made me fight. They spent over 5k. I had nothing but amazing experiences with them. They are only available through credit unions I believe. You can't buy direct, so no pressure.

It depends. My store offers a "third party" plan primarily and we are in control of the claims process so customers enjoy it. It is also cheaper than the Nissan plan. I thought I would do a few of the Nissan plans here to help out, but reading the Nissan contracts I can't and you shouldn't buy the Nissan plan online. They require an inspection at the dealership you purchase the contract from if it isn't the original dealer that sold you the car. My Nissan Security Plus rep told me that they can and potentially will deny claims if they discover something fishy. So if you're in Alabama and you buy a plan from someone online in Cali you're rolling the dice. Not saying it will happen but who wants to take a chance with something like this that is supposed to protect from mishaps.
