I have customer of mine who has a 96 maxima with a bad ecu, the ecu in his car needs replacing and I put in another working ecu into his car and all is fine, car runs drives perfectly fine,

now here's the concern he is having, he has inspection coming up next month and he is worried that when they plug up the car for inspection he will fail because this isn't the ecu to his Vin number,

Do the 95-99 maxima ecu have the Vin number information inside the ecu?

I told him he should be just finebut I still wanted to confirm this, thank you

 

For many reasons, it wouldn't make sense to have the VIN info built into the ECU.
