EGR valve replacement

I posted a few weeks ago about poor idling, stalling, etc on a 1998 nissan maxima GXE and ended up replacing the front two O2 sensors as it was throwing codes. I have also at this point cleaned the EGR tube, IACV, TB and cleaned carbon out of the intake behind the TB and IACV and today I replaced the TPS.

I have a new EGR valve and I don't know how to get it out. I was wondering if anyone had any instructions on how to do this as it makes it so much easier when I go to do it than just doing it on-the-fly.

Thanks so much.

If you don't usually do work like that. i wouldn't start with a EGR change.

You have to take whole intake box and MAF off.I take the TB off to make it easier.i lay a blanket on the IM and put my chest on it,to get to the rear EGR tube on the rear exhaust manifold. If you are past this point it is very easy to take the small tube off. And finish the job. Make sure you don't loose the iron spacers attached to the IM.

If you put area you are from people can help you more.

Here's a video that shows how to replace a vacuum operated EGR valve like you have on the 1998 model. I like this guy's direct approach.

Let me see if I can find some pictures from when I changed it on my 98 model.

Look at the headings on this forum under the heading Stickies. Then look for How To.
Then EGR.

It's all right there. Beautiful photos.

The intake manifold stays on.

You will need a hacksaw blade and some tape to wrap around this.

You might bleed.

I've done this task.

I actually used those exact photos to clear the tube before. The reason I suspect it's the valve is because after all the work I've been doing, right after I cleaned the egr tube and sprayed a ton of carb cleaner on/in its mating surfaces it ran like a dream for about 2 hours. The only thing is, the work done on that thread doesn't show/tell how/what else needs to be removed. I thought id have to take the manifold off so if I don't, fantastic. I'll keep looking and worst case scenario I'll buy a Chilton manual. Thanks people, you all are a real and helpful community. Love my Maxima, want her to breathe okay and run great.
