Max Rear ended 3x - CVT Issue arose
Hi
2010 SV with 97K on it. Did the CVT fluid drain about 15K ago and full 90K service at 88K plus, brakes, new tires and alignment. Had the car aligned for 3 days before it was rear ended on the highway. Fist hit was hard then followed by 2 pretty good impacts. Bumper is creased and broken but still intact and doesn't look terrible.
Here's the issue, drove max 5 hours each way in the desert last weekend and the transmission went into limp mode. Literally had no power and could hardly accelerate. Pulled over in Palm Springs, reset the ECU and it worked a little better but in 100 miles went back into limp mode. Could the impact have an effect on the transmission?
Anything else I should have the mechanics inspect when I bring it in?
Thanks

Limp mode can be caused by the transmission running hot and it is possible the hit(s) were hard enough to cause the magnets in the bottom of the pan to jar loose and let enough detritus loose to partially clog the filter or the cooler, making it run hotter. Of course getting hit hard could also affect the alignment bad enough that the engine and cvt had to work much harder, but I suspect the former.
I would flush and fill and change the filter (in line behind the front drivers wheel) but am interested in what your mechanic finds.
